Plot

Squidward is annoyed by SpongeBob and Patrick, and calls "Bikini Bottom Realty" to arrange for his house to be sold, so that he may move out of Bikini Bottom. He is warned that, if his home is surrounded by bad neighbors, the house may not be sold. Squidward is convinced that Spongebob and Patrick may ruin his chances of selling his house.

Squidward tells Spongebob that it is "opposite day" - and that everyone must act differently to how they usually act. Spongebob believes him, and "informs" Patrick, who forces himself to stop breathing, until Spongebob exclaims, "not that opposite!"

Spongebob demolishes his house, and a shocked Squidward cleans up the debris. SpongeBob, Patrick and Gary then start pretending to be Squidward, as Squidward is acting like Spongebob, and immediately ruin his chances of getting his house sold. A furious Squidward shows them how much he hates them by attempting to run them over with a bulldozer.

Trivia/Goofs

  • After the realtor leaves, we see Squidward on the ground. In the close up of his face you see part of Spongebob with his belt around his waist, but it was wrapped around his head.
  • The television show Seinfeld has an episode titled The Opposite, which features a similar theme.
  • When SpongeBob and Patrick are "talking weird", this is what they are saying in reverse (SpongeBob has possibly told "Why did the chicken cross the road" backwards):
(Both laugh)
SpongeBob: To get to the opposite side.
Patrick: I give up.
SpongeBob: Hey Patrick.
  • When Squidward is rebuilding SpongeBob's house, the house had a big hole through it. However, when we see Squidward rebuilding it, there were wooden boards where the hole was. This wasn't shown the first time SpongeBob's house was a wreck.
  • When the realtor says, "Are there any more Squidwards I should know about?", the captions simply say, "Are there any more Squidwards?"
  • When SpongeBob puts the belt around his head, the belt buckle and the piece of belt that goes through it disappear.
  • When Squidward chases Spongebob and Patrick in his bulldozer, Spongebob is in his normal form.
  • Ways the characters attempt to make themselves to look like Squidward:
    • SpongeBob: Wraps a belt around his face and bends down his nose.
    • Patrick: Sticks a coral branch on his face to look like a big nose.
    • Gary: Sports a pickle between his eye stalks and meows with Squidward's accent.
  • The realtor was voiced by Lori Alan, who does the voice of Pearl in the series.
  • Squidward rebuilt the pineapple in this episode. However, in Home Sweet Pineapple (Episode), it's a real, juicy pineapple!
  • When SpongeBob and Patrick said, "We hate you!" when it showed Squidward, the belt was in SpongeBob's pants instead of under his nose. But when they scream, it was under his nose.
