Patrick is doing an extravagant show for an audience of babies, starring a giant mechanical sea ape. After he blows up the ape and the babies clap, he tells Squidina that it was their best show yet. Squidina informs him that the show's budget is running low and he needs to save money. When Patrick points out the "lawnies," Squidina gets the idea to charge parents for babysitting, since watching the show already pacifies the babies.

A large line-up of parents drop their kids off with Patrick and Squidina. They need to keep the kids safe, and Patrick starts by locking them in a literal safe. Squidina sets them in a playpen instead. Squidina gets the idea to do a show aimed at kids, so Patrick goes on stage and sings a song about being dumb. At the conclusion, he sees that the babies have tied their diapers into a rope and escaped. The babies are playing in the neighbors' yard, and a robot gardener threatens to run them over. Patrick and Squidina rush into the yard to save all the babies.

Next, Squidina has built a fortified playpen to keep the babies safe, and Patrick does a Blue's Clues parody called Ouchie's Hints. He sees Ouchie's empty food dish, then cans of urchin food, but comes to the wrong conclusion on each. After pinning a bunch of arbitrary clues to a board, he gets the idea to fill Ouchie's bowl with food and eat it himself. Ouchie attacks him and yells that the babies have escaped.

Patrick and Squidina find the babies playing on the freeway. Patrick dons a fisherman's outfit and fishes up the babies, using bottles as bait. He then catches GrandPat, whom Squidina says is "too old" and tells him to throw back into traffic. They take the babies back into a giant, see-through tank. The hungry babies eat Patrick's skin off, so he plans a show to teach them manners.

Patrick does a skit where he asks a puppet about the "magic word," which it says is "please." Patrick thinks it literally is magical, so he tests it out by cutting GrandPat in half and trying to reassemble him. It fails, and GrandPat's severed legs run back into the time closet. Patrick gets angry at the puppet, which beats him up and swears at him.

The babies have escaped again through burning a hole in the glass. Patrick and Squidina see footprints on the lawn, which they follow to an X on the lawn. The sand collapses, and the babies rush out with weapons and fill the hole. Suddenly, GrandPat appears with his head in the Sun, having died from Patrick's magic act. The babies prepare to attack Patrick and Squidina, only for the parents to drive by and pick them up. They thank the two and pay them, giving them enough money to continue the show. However, the robot gardener appears and goes after them. They scream as GrandPat looks at the audience, says "You know what they say: out of the frying pan, and into the mower!", then laughs.
