SpongeBob attempts to milk jellyfish jelly from Bessie's udder, which sprays jelly on the floor, then all over the place. SpongeBob, having had enough with the udder, grabs it and goes to milk the jelly in a bucket that he grabbed beforehand. The udder builds up a lot of jelly, and Bessie gets angry and sprays jelly all around, even on Old Man Jenkins. Bessie then throws a fit, kicking everything, including SpongeBob and Patrick, who are sent flying toward Jenkins. All three of them crash into the farm's front door, and Patrick licks the jelly off of Jenkins.

Finally, SpongeBob and Patrick (the latter eats some of Bessie's jelly while Old Man Jenkins is talking) are given their last job: harvesting Jenkins' "kelp patch." SpongeBob thinks the "kelp patch" is a tiny patch of kelp, but Jenkins reveals that the patch that will be harvested is a really huge field of kelp. SpongeBob tells Jenkins that harvesting the "kelp field" will take forever, but Jenkins points to his tractor. Patrick, who has a tractor license, drives the tractor through the field, with the tractor making several bails of kelp from the back. However, a "jellybee" (a jellyfish-like bee) distracts him, and the tractor begins driving around uncontrollably, tripping over a rock that sends it flipping. The jellybee sits on the tractor's steering wheel, and SpongeBob grabs a rope from under the seat. He throws the rope, which catches the steering wheel. The jellybee flies into his nose, but he holds it closed. Patrick then stupidly throws SpongeBob out of the tractor, and the latter gets dragged around by it. The jellybee stings SpongeBob and he flips over to the front of the tractor, getting caught in the grinders and getting tied up. Afterward, SpongeBob and Patrick realize that their chores are done and that it's time for the "barn dance," but the tractor drives into and destroys Old Man Jenkins' farm.

[edit] Plot

Mr. Krabs drops SpongeBob off at Old Man Jenkins' farm, with SpongeBob working as Jenkins' farm hand until Krabs' grocery bill is paid off. Before heading out, Mr. Krabs throws a sack of potatoes to SpongeBob. Inside the sack is Patrick, who is eating all the potatoes. The duo then work a day at the farm.

SpongeBob and Patrick's first job at the farm is to gather "pearly eggs" from a oyster coop. SpongeBob rubs gently on one of the oysters' chin, but the oyster pouts. Patrick tells SpongeBob that he has to be more gentle and tries using a crowbar to pry the oyster's mouth open, but the oyster flips him over and he lands on SpongeBob's face. The oyster find this to be funny and spit eggs at the duo. When Old Man Jenkins arrives, he finds that the basket SpongeBob and Patrick were provided with is still empty. SpongeBob spits a mouthful of eggs in the basket, making a egg pun afterward.

The duo's next job is to feed "worm hogs." SpongeBob pours a bucket filled with slop into the worm hog pen an uses his nose to ring the bell in the pen, whereupon the worm hogs run up to their food, which they begin eating. Patrick also eats the slop, and he kicks a little worm hog who is looking for a place to eat the food away. SpongeBob feeds the little worm hog some slop, but the worm hog shallows him whole before belching out his clothes.

For their third job, SpongeBob and Patrick are told by Old Man Jenkins to be gentle when they milk "ol' Bessie," a cow-like jellyfish.

The jellybee stings SpongeBob and he flips over to the front of the tractor, getting caught in the grinders and getting tied up; he then makes another joke. Afterward, SpongeBob and Patrick realize that their chores are done and that it's time for the "barn dance," but the tractor drives into and destroys Old Man Jenkins' farm.

SpongeBob and Patrick then have "an old-fashioned barn raising" that involves literally raising a "barn child" to adulthood, when it becomes part of a newly-made farm. With the farm re-assembled, the barn dance can finally happen, but there are no guests. A UFO, which is actually some kind of strange outhouse, lands on the farm, and a group of strange hillbilly farmer aliens play instruments as SpongeBob, Patrick and Old Man Jenkins join in the fun. The tractor continues driving around the kelp patch, and it is revealed that it had created a strange pattern in the field; the aliens had noticed the pattern and interpreted it as a invitation. The farmer aliens then board their UFO and leave.

Mr. Krabs arrives and finds that his grocery bill has been paid off. SpongeBob and Patrick hop into Krabs' boat and they drive away. Patrick soon falls asleep while SpongeBob tells Mr. Krabs what he and Patrick did. Krabs denies the existence of UFOs, but he is shocked when a UFO's tractor beam suddenly shines over them. SpongeBob reassures him that aliens don't exist as all three of them are abducted by the UFO, which flies off into the sky as the tractor drives by the Krusty Krab and the episode ends.
