'''LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants''' is a series of LEGO building sets based on the [[SpongeBob SquarePants (TV Show)|Nicktoon of the same name]]. The first three sets, The Krusty Krab, Build-A-Bob,  and Adventures in Bikini Bottom, were released in 2006. LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants was part of the same wave of LEGO sets as Avatar: the Last Airbender, because the first wave was not considering either themes to be complete themes, they were considered one theme titled Nickelodeon. The idea of combining them in a two part theme was for fans to choose which one was a better theme, and SpongeBob SquarePants was chosen because of its popularity. Unlike most LEGO themes, this one includes a variety of interesting pieces, as the characters and sets are different from most of other themes. Also, many variations are seen, including the most famous: Squidward's head change from a standard minifigure head, to a special, more realistic head. After LEGO got the Disney franchise from Mega Bloks for 2010 and 2011, Mega Bloks announced they have a new deal with [[Nickelodeon]]. This may have been the cause of the SpongeBob theme coming to an end in 2010. However, the LEGO theme was relaunched in 2011, after the Toy Story theme was discontinued.

LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants is a series of LEGO building sets based on the Nicktoon of the same name. The first three sets, The Krusty Krab, Build-A-Bob, and Adventures in Bikini Bottom, were released in 2006. LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants was initially part of the same wave of LEGO sets as fellow Nicktoon Avatar: the Last Airbender, because the first wave was not considered a separate theme from the Avatar sets; they were considered one theme titled Nickelodeon. The idea of combining them in a two part theme was for fans to choose which one was a better theme, and SpongeBob SquarePants was chosen because of its popularity. Unlike most LEGO themes, this one includes a variety of interesting pieces, as the characters and sets are different from most other themes. Also, many variations are seen, most notably Squidward's head changing from a standard minifigure head to a special, more realistic head. After LEGO got the Disney franchise from Mega Bloks for 2010 and 2011, Mega Bloks announced they have made a new deal with Nickelodeon. This may have been the cause of the SpongeBob theme coming to an end in 2010. However, the LEGO theme was relaunched in 2011, after the Toy Story theme was discontinued.
