The Prehistoric Tar Pit is a tar pit that appeared in the episode: Ditchin'. It is a tar pit that has many fossils at the surface. SpongeBob almost sank there in Ditchin'.

Fossils at the surface of the tar suggest that dinosaurs once lived on or near the pit and even ice age creatures like a mammoth and a aurochs you see in the picture possibly got stuck in ocean then die and sunk into Prehistoric Bikini Bottom.
