Otto is one of Mrs. Sturgeon's students at Little Flipper Music Academy. When Squidward admits to the class that he is only attending because he got a court order, Otto and Fergus mock him. During Mrs. Sturgeon's warm-ups, Otto plays the keytar, only to grasp it too hard with his claws and break it. Otto and his classmates dance around when they hear SpongeBob's nose flute playing. They start a performance together, and Squidward's bad clarinet playing creates a tornado that sends them out of the room. The class, including Otto, then hear Squidward's nose flute playing and appreciate it, showing up to his concert in Jellyfish Fields.
