Plot

The episode starts when Spongebob tells Patrick that they are going to the beach that day. Patrick says he loves the beach and decides to go. They go on the bus with their beach things but annoy the bus driver. When they play music on their toys they are kicked out. They are worried that they were abandoned but they realized they landed at the beach. Spongebob takes out a frisbee and they decide to play "Small plastic disc that you throw". Patrick goes first but when Spongebob throws it Patrick tries to catch it but instead distroys the tower which the lifeguard is on. Spongebob suggests playing in the sand. But Patrick says it's boring until Spongebob suggests to build sandcastles. They start but when Patrick began, Spongebob tried helping Patrick but instead destroys Patrick's castle frustarating Patrick. Patrick says "Hey What are you doing? You destroyed my castle!!" Spongebob says "I am just trying to help buddy!" Patrick frowns and says "Well I don't need your help." Spongebob goes back to his castle and says "I'll start by making a queen to rule on your side" Spongebob makes a queen but Patrick punches the castle distroying it. Patrick says "Now we're even!" Spongebob makes a line and says "Okay back to square one again." Patrick decides to show Spongebob that he isn't the only guy who could build a castle.

Patrick makes a castle that is a tower with spikes on it and says "Let's see Spongebob destroy this castle" . Spongebob decides to build a wall and says "I gotta build a wall just in case, King Pinky has any funny ideas." Spongebob builds a wall around his castle which looks like a regular one but stops he says to Patrick "Oh, sir? you built onto my side" Spongebob cuts Patrick's castle in half by the line and Patrick says "You tyrant! You did it again! I'll show you!" Patrick makes a sand hammer and hits Spongebob's castle distroying it. Now they're even. Spongebob makes a huge sandcastle that looks real and like a regular castle. Patrick builds a huge Sandcastle that looks real too but is a tower with spikes on it. Patrick grins at Spongebob by then.

Spongebob makes Patrick sign a treaty which gives them peace, but Patrick doesn't follow the treaty, so now it's war! Patrick and Spongebob's goal is to destroy each other's castle. Patrick makes a cavalry but Spongebob destroys it with a catapult and demands his cavalry to attack and destroy Patrick's castle. Patrick inside his castle makes a cannon.

When Spongebob's infantry comes in Patrick's castle Patrick says "Oh, Hello" and shoots Spongebob's infantry with the cannon destroying it. Spongebob makes a tank and Patrick makes a robot. They attack each other but Spongebob destroys everything on the robot except the head of the robot. Patrick uses the head as a rocket. Spongebob makes an airplane and Patrick and Spongebob chase each other. Spongebob sends missiles on Patrick which hits Patrick. Patrick then pretends to be hurt. Spongebob is upset because he thinks Patrick is hurt but Patrick attacks Spongebob.

Spongebob flys away in his plane and Patrick sends even more missiles on Spongebob. Spongebob avoids the missles and tricks them to destroy Patrick's castle. Spongebob then laughs as Patrick's castle is distroyed, and Patrick even more furious, orders a bomb dropped on Spongebob's castle. They are both really hurt and As both sandcastles are destroyed, and nobody won the war, they realize they went too far. They appologize, but the lifeguard says they are going to clean up the beach. By doing so they argue over who cleans up faster

Trivia/Goofs

This was the first episode to premiere during Nickelodeon's "The Bob Squad."
The robot Patrick made resembled Optimus Prime from "Transformers"
At the beginning, when Patrick's house opened, it looked 3-D.
The title card is very similar to the one in Rise and Shine.
When Patrick hands the money to the architectural designer, it is in super HD.
This is the first SpongeBob episode to get a 9.0 or higher on TV.com since "Krusty Towers / Mrs. Puff, You're Fired" which first aired almost three years ago.
When SpongeBob and Patrick got on the bus, they had a very large bag. When they were kicked off, they had no bag.
This is the fourteenth time someones skin is ripped off.
Some of the Bus scenes are similar to Rock Bottom.
The title is a parody of "Castles in the Sky".
This is the second time sand comes to life. The first was in Rock Bottom.
The cannonball that Patrick fired was a reference to heat-seeking missiles, or in this episode, sand-seeking missiles.
Many of SpongeBob's lines during the end of the episode are quotes from classic literature or parodies of such quotes. An example is "all's fair in love and war".
The ending "speech" by SpongeBob is considerably anti-war.
Sand things can't come to life.
Patrick's castle can't have spikes on it. They would fall.
A sand castle can't have that many details-Especially SpongeBob's commander.
A cannon ball cannot stop, turn around, turn back, or suddenly fly up and turn.
Plus, a sand jet can't be powered by rockets or fly in the air. Sand missles can't explode, either.
When SpongeBob and Patrick get kicked out of the bus, they are clearly not at the beach because you can't see anyone or water. So, later they magically appear at the beach.
In one scene SpongeBob's castle had a Thumbprint Identification.
